The Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the village Kollektivnaya.
The stone church in the village of Kollektivnaya was built in 1750. These lands previously belonged to the Polotsk Epiphany Monastery, from which processions with the especially revered icon of the Mother of God "Iverskaya" were held every May. In the Polotsk district, this is the only late Baroque church with elements of classicism.
The stone church of St. Nicholas is crowned with an octagonal wooden drum with a dome.
In the 1920s, during the anti-religious campaign, the church was closed, and the priests were subjected to repression. According to the memoirs of local residents, a hostel for flax factory workers was opened in the temple building.
The revival of the temple began only in the 1990s. Orthodox Polochans actively raised funds for the restoration of the temple.
On September 17, 2022, the first Divine Liturgy after a break of almost a century took place in the ancient church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the village of Kollektivnaya in the Polotsk region.
In the same year, donations were provided to the temple for an iconostasis, a throne and an altar, and work was carried out on laying a concrete floor. Anyone who wishes can still help restore the temple and find the details of the religious community on the website of the Polotsk diocese.
The Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker is located in a beautiful quiet place and is today an important monument of architecture and culture of the region. It not only serves as a place for worship, but is also an object of historical and cultural heritage, attracting the attention of both locals and tourists.
