A significant architectural and historical landmark of the city.

The mansion is designed in the Russian architectural style. The building attracts attention with its extraordinary beauty. It is one-story, has an unusual attic, windows with carved architraves and a carved decorative frieze found around the perimeter of the building. All this gives the building a special elegance and splendor. There are no similar architectural monuments in Belarus anymore.

The Meshchersky family was known not only in Klimovichi, but also beyond their borders. Prince Nikolai Meshchersky built this mansion in Klimovichi for his daughter Maria. The participation of representatives of this family in the social and political life of the country has left its mark on the history of the region. During its heyday, the mansion became the center of cultural life, where meetings and balls were held, prominent figures of art and science gathered.

During the 1917 revolution, the building was confiscated in favor of the people, and Maria was evicted to the outskirts of the city. Over time, after the revolutionary transformations and changes in the country, the mansion lost its original significance, and many of its treasures were seized and lost.

The Meshchersky mansion was used for the headquarters of the revolutionary committee, later Komsomol and party organs of the Klimovichi district were located here.

At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the mansion housed the military headquarters of the Red Army. After the end of the war, there was a school for children in the mansion building.

In 1950, the building was used as a warehouse.  Later, it housed a boarding school for orphans, a school, and a statistics department.

However, the building has retained its historical outlines and is still of interest to tourists and researchers. In the 1970s, the mansion building was awarded the status of an architectural monument. In 1978, the Klimovichi Museum of Local Lore was placed in the mansion.

Currently, the Meshchersky mansion is in the process of restoration. The city authorities and the local community are showing interest in reviving its cultural significance. Guided tours and cultural events are held to draw attention to this architectural heritage.
