Description

The Church of the Intercession, located in a cemetery in the town of Kletsk, Minsk region, is a typical example of a retrospective architectural style. The central volume of the modern temple is covered with a quadrangular roof, on top of which are arranged sequentially: a quadrangle, an octagon and a tent with a bulbous end.

This church was built in the period from 1876 to 1879 from brick, on the site of an old wooden church erected in 1786. The engineer of this building was L. Krzhizhanovsky. The temple building is notable for its historical significance and architectural beauty, being an important monument of culture and spirituality for the local community.

Kletsk. Church of the Intercession

The Holy Protection Church was first mentioned in the inventory of the town of Kletsk in 1626 and was then called "In the name of the Ascension of the Lord." It was located outside the city, at the entrance to Kletsk from the side of Nesvizh. The church stood on a hill, which in the 17th century was called Mount Goryn.

In those days, the church was also called the Cemetery, as it was located in the main cemetery of Kletsk. The temple was famous for the local revered icon of the Virgin Mary, which attracted many pilgrims. However, after the abolition of the union in 1839, the church building did not receive proper care for a long time and became very dilapidated. On May 29, 1871, a new construction project was developed, which was entrusted to the provincial architect Ivanov. But 4 years later, the Board of Trustees asked for a new project.

In November 1875, a new project was sent, and in 1876, with the funds raised, a new church was built on the site of the Church of the Ascension of the Lord. The construction was completed by the Nesvizh philistine Wolf Andrusir, who built more than 60 churches in the Minsk province. Unfortunately, due to the meager financial resources of the parish, the new church turned out to be smaller and more modest than its predecessor.

The church has an enviable location on Arininskaya Hill, visible from afar; it was built with a strict orientation of the altar to the east; it was never closed or used for household purposes.

The modern history of the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kletsk began in 2005, when the renovation and restoration of the preserved relics began with the arrival of a new priest.

In recent years, extensive repairs have been carried out by the efforts of the priest and parishioners, and the road to the temple has been paved by the authorities.
