Karolino. The Tizengauz Estate.

A few kilometers from Grodno there is a place called Karolino, where the noble estate of the Tizengauzes has been preserved. Over time, the estate fell into disrepair, but a few years ago private owners took over the ancient buildings, restored and opened an agricultural estate here.

During the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 1770s, the mayor of Grodno, Anthony Tizengauz, received land in these places from the King of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Stanislav Poniatowski. Tizengauz founded a folwark, which he named Karolin.

After Tizengauz, General Peter Yundil becomes the new owner - Tizengauz rents the estate to him. In 1785, Count Ignatius Tizengauz became the owner, followed by his sons Rudolf and Konstantin. In 1834, Matey Gosevsky acquired the estate. Then the property passed to Spiridon Gosevsky and his children. After the Gosevskys, Karolin often changed owners. In 1924, the Kozell–Poklevskys became the new owners.

In 1882, the Karolin estate had 10 stone buildings and 6 wooden ones. There were two watermills, a brewery where Bavarian beer was brewed, and a brick factory.

The estate was gradually formed under all the owners, starting with Anthony Tizengauz, who asked the famous royal architect Giuseppe Sacco to design the palace.

To this day, several stone buildings have been preserved, which were built of brick and rubble stone.
