Kalinkovichi. The Museum of Local Lore.

In 1991, the Kalinkovichi State Museum of Local Lore was founded on the basis of secondary school No. 6. Later, the museum collection moved to a two-story building adjacent to the Military Commissariat building.

The exhibition space opened in 1994, and in 1999, visitors saw for the first time a permanent exhibition entitled "The Nature of the native land and its protection".

By 2004, the museum had three exhibition halls:

1. "Milestones of the History or Antiquity of the Kalinkovichi region in material remains", which is documentary evidence and historical artifacts;

2. "The Kalinkovichi system. The song of my grandfathers", dedicated to the cultural heritage of the region;

3. "They went through that war," telling about the tragic events of history, about the struggle against the Nazi invaders.

Each hall displays exhibits reflecting a specific historical stage of the region's development. All expositions together represent the historical and local history heritage of the Kalinkovichi. Of particular value are historical documents, a collection of numismatics, household items and archaeological finds, as well as rare book editions. The exhibition halls feature paintings and folk decorative and applied arts, as well as interesting collections of ceramics and porcelain.

The museum of the district constantly hosts presentations of new exhibitions, vernissages, and creative evenings.

Walking through the halls of the museum, you will see a mammoth bone and a stone axe from the site of primitive man in Yurovichi, coins of the 17th century from a treasure found in Ogorodniki village, the cutlery of the owner of the village of Lipovo, the landowner Gorvat, clothes in the style of "Kalinkovichi order" and many other ancient objects, get acquainted with the rich history of the city and the Kalinkovichi district.
