Ivenets Museum of Traditional Culture.
The "Ivenets Museum of Traditional Culture" is located in the center of the small town of Ivenets. The museum is located in a two-storey stone building, which was erected in the 1930s during the time of the Polish state.....
The museum was opened in 1957 and was considered the memorial museum of Felix Dzerzhinsky, who was born near Ivenets. Since the early 1990s, the museum staff has been working to collect and research objects of folk life and art. Since 2006, the museum has been called the "Ivenetsky Museum of Traditional Culture". To date, the museum fund has about 20 thousand museum items. The exposition has 4 halls.
The "historical and ethnographic" section, which tells about the culture and way of life of the inhabitants of Ivenets and its surroundings. These are rare photographs, books and documents. Interesting information has been collected about Count Tyshkevich, the Dzerzhinsky family, local writers and teachers.
The section " Ceramics. Traditions and modernity". This separate section describes the features of ceramic production in Iventsa, which dates back to the 16th century. In the 19th and early 20th century, Ivenets was considered the capital of pottery in this region and a ceramic enterprise still operates in the city.
A separate exhibition is dedicated to the folk craftsman, woodcarver Apollinarius Florianovich Pupko (1893-1948), who comes from the famous Pupko family, which is known for its hereditary potters, carvers and master masons.
Since 1998, the Craft Center has been operating at the museum, where workshops "weaving", "forge", "pottery" work. There are good craftsmen in the workshops who teach their craft to everyone and, if necessary, conduct a master class.
