Description
The Holy Trinity Church in the village of Ishkol is a rare Gothic church, one of the oldest monuments of Catholic architecture in Belarus. It was built and consecrated in 1472 with funds from a representative of an ancient noble family, Nikolai Ivanovich Nemirovich, who was the owner of the village at that time. It was presumably erected on the site of a pagan temple. The Trinity Church is a monument of national significance.

The oldest authentic church in Belarus that has not been rebuilt.
The Church of the Holy Trinity in the village of Ishkol was built as a Catholic church, but in the second half of the 16th century it came under the influence of the Protestants and was adapted for a Calvinist collection. In 1641 it was returned to the Catholics.
It is known that the Trinity Church has not been rebuilt, and, being today a rare example of true medieval late Gothic, it is of particular historical value and is protected by the state.
In 1860, the church was consecrated as the Holy Trinity Church by decision of the Russian authorities. And at the same time, unfortunately, the ancient sculptures and icons that adorned the Trinity Church were lost.
The church was slightly damaged during the Russian-Polish war. During the First World War and the Patriotic War, the building was not damaged or destroyed. From 1969 to 1978, the church was closed. After its opening, major restoration work was carried out on the temple.
The church is interesting because it has managed to preserve its authenticity for several centuries. It is the oldest church in Belarus that has not been rebuilt at all - and this is a unique case! Only at the beginning of the 19th century, the Trinity Church, which was originally the traditional red and white color, was completely plastered and whitewashed. It remains like this to this day.
The unique architectural design of the church and its original appearance are of great interest to history buffs. This ancient monumental monument gives us all the opportunity to touch the past.
The temple is active, but on days when there are no services, it is often closed. You can get inside during services and on major holidays.
