Iodchitsy. The Intercession Church.
In the Kletsky district, in the center of the village of Iodchitsy, a wooden Orthodox Church of the Intercession was built on a hill. The R–43 highway runs near Iodchitsy, so it's very easy to drive up and see this architectural monument.
The first temple was built in the village in 1801. The church was consecrated as Pokrovskaya (Intercession). In 1856, the church was renovated at the expense of Prince Radziwill, who was the owner of a local estate.
A parish school has been operating since 1864. The parish included several villages and towns: Kuntsevschina, Urved, Komlevschina, Mokrany, Malaya and Bolshaya Bolvan, Nagornoye, Teterevets. The priests at the temple were Ephraim Stipura (1800 – 1864), and then Adam Volosovich (1864-1902).
During the time of the Russian Empire, in 1905, participants in the Russo–Japanese war in the town of Iodchitsy created an initiative group that was engaged in the construction of the temple. In 1905, the construction of the temple began. The church was consecrated in 1914. The shrine was built at the expense of parishioners.
During the Great Patriotic War, the Nazis arrested the rector of the temple and exiled him to a concentration camp.
The monument was erected in the traditions of folk wooden architecture in the neo-Russian style. The building consists of four main architectural parts: a vestibule, a refectory, a prayer hall and an apse. A two-tiered eight-on-four bell tower is built over the vestibule.
The interior has a single-tiered iconostasis with 7 icons.
