Idolta. The Church of the Virgin Mary.
The official name is the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The town of Idolta has been known since the 16th century. At first, these lands belonged to the Rudomin-Dusyatsky family, and then to the Sapieha magnates.
After the Peace of Riga in 1921, Idolta was transferred to the Polish state, on whose lands extensive construction of Catholic churches began.
If you go from Miory to Druya, then right on the highway near the agro-town of Idolta, on the right side you will see an unusual church that looks like a medieval castle.
This is the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in 1937-1939 in the Art Nouveau style. The building was erected in a retrospective image of Romanesque architecture. In terms of the building has a rectangular hall type.
An asymmetrical tower is attached to the main facade with an arched gallery. The main facade is also decorated with a rose window and a niche with a sculpture of St. Isidore. The style of building a church made of small rubble stone and gray brick masonry gives the building a special decorative effect. The researchers note that the ascetic color scheme of the church emphasizes the retrospective style of the temple and the taking of some elements from Gothic and Romanesque styles.
The interior is divided into three naves. The main altar is two-tiered. There is a wooden pulpit. A semicircular apse with sacristy is attached to the main volume.
