The manor house of the early 19th century in the style of late classicism.
The Khaletsky estate in the village of Khalch is an architectural monument of national scale. The construction was initiated at the end of the 18th century by a member of the Khaletsky family with funds received from the sale of the Branch and in the form of a dowry.
Completed by the beginning of the 19th century, the estate looked like a true palace in the style of late classicism. Unfortunately, the name of the architect who created this building is unknown. Initially, the complex included two outbuildings, stables and other outbuildings, of which only the main house has survived to this day.
The Khalchinsky Palace is unique: there are no analogues of this estate not only in Belarus, but also in Lithuania and Ukraine. The main building was two storeys high, with a stone ground floor and a wooden second floor. This feature was hidden under a single decoration. On the ground floor there was a library, a dining room and guest bedrooms, while the second floor was occupied by a ballroom, bedrooms and a study of the hosts. Unfortunately, the interiors of the estate were almost completely lost in Soviet times.
In 1887, a guest of the estate was the famous artist Napoleon Orda, who made a sketch of the entire estate. Thanks to his work, today it is possible to trace how beautiful and rich the Khaletsky estate was in the 19th century.
The estate was confiscated from the Khaletskys and given to the Voynich-Senozhetsky family. It is known that during the uprising of Kastus Kalinovsky, the owner of the estate, Alexander Senozhetsky, hid rebels inside the house. After Alexander, Zygmunt Voynich-Senozhetsky became the owner of the estate, who made the estate famous throughout the district with lavish balls and hunting.
During the Soviet era, the estate was a shelter for children, then it was converted into an NKVD prison. In the second half of the 20th century, the manor house was a prison for women with children.
Now the estate is on the balance of the Gomel Palace Complex and is included in the tourist routes of the region.
In 2012, reconstruction was carried out. The estate is also included in the tourist routes of the region.
This beautiful historical manor, which is an ancient monument, is located in a beautiful location. Nearby is the Sozh river, a beautiful park. In the summer of 2024, renovation work was carried out here. Hopefully, very soon we will see the manor in a new restored form.
