It is one of the oldest railway stations in the country. Built at the beginning of the 20th century, during the construction of the railway line connecting Minsk and Vilnius, the station is a striking example of the Art Nouveau architectural style. The railway station in the village of Gudogai is one of the oldest railway stations in the country.
The history of this station is shrouded in interesting facts. According to the stories of local residents, initially the railway track was planned to be laid directly through the town of Gudogai. However, in order to avoid lengthening the route by several kilometers, the builders decided to run the rails through the nearby village of Slobodka. In order not to confuse the reporting, the station was named Gudogai. A well-known Belarusian historian, a native of these places, Adam Maldis, considered the station building in Gudogai to be the first built in Oshmyansky district.
The official date of birth of the Gudogai station is January 14, 1873. It was on this day that the Novo-Vileisk – Minsk section of the Libavo-Romensk railway was put into operation, according to the data given in the book "Railway of Belarus. History and modernity". This highway, which was built in sections from 1871 to 1874, played an important role in the development of the region.
Over time, the village that grew up around the station grew and united not only Slobodka, but also the neighboring villages of Taborishki and Chubeyka.
Today, the Gudogai station continues to function, connecting the region with other cities and countries, and at the same time serves as a monument of the era, recalling important events in the history of the Belarusian railway.
This is a place where the past meets the present, and where every train arriving and departing is a new chapter in the history of Gudogai.
