Gudevichi. The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin.
There is a stone Orthodox church in the Mosty district on the outskirts of the village of Gudevichi on Tsentralnaya Street.
The first temple was built during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania sometime in the 16th century. The next church was built in the 17th century. A little later, the church building was dismantled and moved to the village of Semerenko. The temple building was destroyed by fire. Then the new church was built again. At first, the church belonged to the Orthodox. And then he moved on to Uniate believers. After the annexation to the Russian Empire, the church returned to the Orthodox in the 1830s.
The new stone building was erected in 1852.
The author of the project was Viktor Michaelis, a Belarusian architect who at that time worked as the Grodno provincial architect. Shortly after the construction of the temple, defects were discovered in the walls, which was the result of poor-quality stone work during the construction of the walls.
Priest Viktor Abramovich ensured that in 1877, work was carried out to rebuild the walls of the building. Two side extensions to the church were also made. A new project to rebuild the church in 1866 was developed by architect Vlasov. This project was not approved. In 1873, another architect, Yakub Fardon, made a new design for a 700-person temple. A little later in 1909, a bell tower was added according to the design of architect Wilhelm Srok.
