The Merzheevsky Manor House is an architectural monument of early classicism.
The village of Grozovo in the Kopyl district is known to historians thanks to the Merzheevsky estate. At various times, these lands belonged to the Olelkovichs, Volodkevichs, Radziwills, Nezabutovskys, Merzheyevskys, Wittgensteins and Hohenlohe. The exact date of the appearance of the first estate has not been established today, it is only known that the Grozovo Monastery was already located here in the 1600s, which may indicate the improvement of these lands by that time.
The first large estate appeared in the second half of the 18th century and was in the hands of the Merzheyevskys and then the Wittgensteins until 1863. At the very beginning of the 19th century, Stanislav Anton Gorvatt became the owner of the premises.
After the uprising of 1863, the Merzheevskys lost their rights to the estate, it was bought by Ludwig Wittgenstein, who leased it to Severin Merzheevsky's son-in-law, Karol Kalinovsky, thereby returning the estate to its former owners.
The house is once a two-story rectangular structure with a hip roof and a portico supported by four columns. The building is framed by profiled elements, and its layout is traditionally enfiladed.
In Soviet times, the building of the former Merzheevsky estate in Grozovo was occupied by a secondary school, which allowed the building to be preserved. Then it was abandoned and gradually destroyed.
Now tourists visiting the Minsk region can admire the classic building, but access inside is limited. It was acquired into private ownership in 2010, and restoration work is underway here.
