Grodno. Zhemaytel's house.

In Grodno, in the historical center on Karl Marx Street (house number 32), there is an architectural monument - the Zhemaytel's House. Karl Marx Street is one of the oldest in Grodno and was formed during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. It had different names in different eras. During the time of the Russian Empire, when the Zhemaytel's House was built, the street was called Kupecheskaya (Merchant's).

The building was built in 1876 in the eclectic style. According to some information, the house was built at the end of the 19th century. It has the status of historical and cultural value. Stone, two-storied, plastered. The decor has been preserved on the front facade. There are two cast iron balconies.

The house was built at the expense of Colonel Pavel Zhemaytel. The building is named after him. The colonel and his family lived on the second floor. And I rented out four apartments on the ground floor. In 1911, a bailiff at the Rafalovich District Court lived in one of the apartments.

As a result of the Soviet-Polish war and the Peace of Riga, the city of Grodno was part of the Polish Republic from 1921 to 1939. During this period in the 1920s, there were residential apartments in the building, and twenty–six people lived here.

In recent years, the monument has been restored and, as before, there are residential apartments here.
