Grodno. Shai Pik's house.

In the city of Grodno, along Sovetskaya Street, which is in the very historical center and has long been considered pedestrian, there is a historical building (under number 13) called the Shai Pik's House.

The stone monument, three-storied, is located near the "Cinema Alley" in the center of the street. The building was built between 1811 and 1831 and significantly rebuilt in 1990. The house is L-shaped in plan, covered with a gable roof. At the beginning of the 19th century, the building had two floors.

In the middle of the 19th century, the building appeared in a painting by the famous artist and composer Napoleon Orda, where it can be seen that the house is already three storeys high with an attic. In 1884, the owner of the building was the merchant Shai Pik, the owner of a furniture factory. Then his family owned the building. The building housed an atelier, a furniture store and a furniture warehouse. There were more than a dozen residential apartments.

After the Great Patriotic War, the building housed a workers' club and shops, including a commercial bread shop. In the 1950s and 1960s, there was a consumer service workshop and a 'Clothing' store. It now houses the 'Yves Rocher' cosmetics and perfumery salon. An illustration of the historical panorama of Grodno hangs on the front of the house.
