Grodno. The house of the merchants Franks.

In Grodno, on Sovetskaya pedestrian street, there is a stone three-story building (house number 12), which is known as the House of merchants Franks. The building was built in 1900 during the time of the Russian Empire.

At first, the house belonged to the printer David Meilakhovich, who was the son of the founder of the publishing business in Grodno, Moisei Meilakhovich, who graduated from the Imperial Academy of Art. Moses had two sons: Yosel and David, who became the first owners of lithographs in Grodno in 1868. In 1893, David's son founded his own publishing company under the name Zundel. In 1885, a huge fire destroyed the Meilakhovich building, and after the resumption of construction, the house was sold to merchants of the Franks.

Merchants erected a large modern building on this site, which housed shops and establishments. Frank donated part of the building to the city's public library in 1903. The Northern Insurance Company, the chamber of the judicial investigator for important cases, and the agency of the Russian Insurance Company also worked here.

During the period of the Polish state in 1926, Dr. S. Birger lived here, and later worked as a mortgage business bank.

After the Great Patriotic War, a beer store was located, and the SOYUZUTIL regional office was open. There is now a Banking Services Center and a store here.
