Description
On the way between Mstislav and Gorki there is the ancient town of Gory, where the unusual Castle Hill has been preserved. Once, during the times of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, there was a feudal castle here, from which defensive ramparts have survived to this day. Castle Hill offers beautiful views that will not leave anyone indifferent.

The castle towered over the city of Gory.
As a result of archaeological excavations conducted by historian Mikhas Tkachov, it was established that the first settlement in the city of Gory arose in the 12th century. Gory was first mentioned in written sources in 1500. Local princes Gorsky lived here and built their private castle. At that time, the owners were the Yureviches and Khreptoviches, Gornostai and Sapieha. At the end of the 16th century, when Chancellor Lev Sapieha became the owner, a new castle with bastion fortifications was built. The Karchevatka stream flowed next to the castle, above which the ramparts of the castle rose to a height of 20 meters. Seven bastions were built along the perimeter of the castle, and on the city side at the entrance to the castle there were two-tiered wooden gates. According to a document from 1627, the castle contained the following weapons: "... 29 iron stormtroopers, 25 hook guns, 3 hook guns on stakes, 67 guns, two copper cannons." The castle was badly damaged during the war between the Muscovite Kingdom and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the mid-17th century. And the last time the fortifications were used was during the events of the Northern War of 1708. The Swedish King Charles XII was here with his army. Since then, the castle has lost its defensive fortifications and has no longer been used as a fortress. Earthen defensive ramparts along the perimeter of the former castle have survived to this day. And at the foot of the fortifications, a reservoir was created, over which a pedestrian bridge was built. And today it is one of the best places for recreation and fishing in the Mogilev region.
