Gorodnaya. Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

Gorodnaya, Stolin district, has been known since the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 15th century. She had the right to self-government, the Magdeburg law, and a coat of arms depicting an elk with golden horns. The place was famous for its master potters and Christian traditions. The 17th-18th century Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, which was originally built as a Uniate church, has been preserved in the village to this day.

At the beginning of the 20th century, it was decided to build another church in Gorodnaya, since by that time the population was already two thousand people. Thanks to the efforts of the head of the Petty-Bourgeois administration Mikhail Belous, priest Nikolai Razdelovsky and parishioner Ilya Vyachorka, work began on the construction of the stone church in 1910. Funds for the construction were collected only from the parishioners. Construction continued during the First World War and was completed in 1915.

Tombstones were taken from the old cemetery to build the foundation. The walls are made of brick. The building was designed in a pseudo-Russian style with the conciseness of the basic forms. The church worked both during the years of the Polish state and during the Great Patriotic War. And during the retreat in 1944, the Nazi invaders blew up the shrine. The ruins of the temple were dismantled after the war for building materials for the needs of the local collective farm. Divine services took place in the Trinity wooden Church, which was not closed in Soviet times.

After the collapse of the USSR, in 1997 it was decided to restore the destroyed church of St. Nicholas. At the expense of parishioners and investors, a temple began to be built according to the project of architect Alexei Vyachorka. The restored Church of St. Nicholas was consecrated by the Archbishop of Pinsk and Luninetsky in the summer of 2004. The church has been renovated according to the plans and photographs of the old church.
