Gorodishche. The Church of Peter and Paul.

In the small village of Gorodishche, Kamenets district, there is a wooden Orthodox church, which was consecrated in honor of the Apostles Peter and Paul. The first church in the Settlement was mentioned in the 16th century. The new church was built in 1698 by the fund of the local owners of Mahwitz. Initially, the church belonged to Uniate believers, and then it was transferred to the Orthodox after the union was banned in 1839.

This temple was known far beyond the borders of the town due to its miraculous image of the Virgin, which was decorated with a silver chasuble and numerous donations of valuables.

In the 1850s, the temple fell into disrepair and was closed for repairs. In 1864, the church was opened after renovation. During a visit to Belovezhskaya Pushcha in 1886, the Emperor of the Russian Empire Alexander III and Tsarevich Nicholas visited the Gorodishche Church. In 1913, the bell tower was renovated and made of new timber.

During the Great Patriotic War, the building was damaged, but later repaired. In Soviet times, after the war in 1961, the temple was closed and the room was adapted for a granary. After the collapse of the USSR, the church was returned to the faithful and repairs were carried out in the early 2000s.

The building consists of a vestibule, a prayer hall and a pentagonal apse. A three-tiered eight-on-four bell tower is built above the vestibule. There are rectangular windows in the bell tower and side walls. The main volume is covered with a gable roof. The interior has choirs and an iconostasis with icons from the 19th century: "The Last Supper", "Thomas", "The Mother of God", "St. Peter and Paul" and others.
