Gorka. Church of St. George the Victorious.

There is a stone Orthodox church in the town of Gorka, which is named after St. George the Victorious. The church was built at the turn of the century around 1900. The temple was built at the expense of the local owner of the estate, Stefan Nezabytovsky, and the money of the Holy Synod. At first, Archpriest Joachim served as a priest in the church.

After the Great Patriotic War, the church initially worked, but in the 1960s, during the time of General Secretary Nikita Khrushchev, the church was closed. The building was adapted for storage. In August 1993, a fire broke out and fundraising began for the renovation of the temple. In August 1994, the church opened its doors to parishioners. Bishop Constantine consecrated the church after a long break.

The church building was built according to a standard design in pseudo–Russian style. The church was built according to an elongated axial composition and has 4 main parts: a vestibule, a refectory, a prayer hall and an apse. Above the narthex there is a two-tiered bell tower, covered with a tent with an onion. The main volume of the prayer hall is square in plan, covered with a four-pitched roof. A light drum with an onion is mounted on top. The facades of the church and the upper tier of the bell tower pierced by arched windows. The churchyard is surrounded by a stone fence with a gate around the perimeter.
