Gomel. Puppet Theater

The puppet Theater in Gomel has been in existence since 1963. Initially, he did not have his own stage, and the troupe worked with the puppets at the drama theater. It was only in 2002 that they were allocated the building of the former Palace of Culture, which became their home and the place where the magic of creating performances takes place. The theater building is cozy and attractive, with a cheerful atmosphere and an auditorium designed for 214 seats.

The origins of the creation of the theater are directed by Viktor Chernyaev, who led the theater for more than 20 years. His contribution to the development of the theater is invaluable, and under his leadership the team has achieved significant success. In the mid-1980s, Vyacheslav Matros became the main director, with whom the theater's repertoire became more diverse. It began to include works by Belarusian playwrights, which contributed to the development of the national theatrical art.

One of the most striking performances was "Let the Lark not stop" based on the play by A. Volsky, for whom dolls were made of straw. This performance has received recognition not only in Belarus, but also abroad. Theatergoers from many countries applauded the production, and the audience and discerning juries at various theater festivals gave her their sympathies.

For almost 62 years of its existence, the theater's staff has staged more than 180 performances, which were watched by over 4 million viewers. The tour and festival geography of the theater is impressive, covering the space from Spain to Vladivostok. In the last three seasons alone, the theater troupe has visited cities such as Minsk, Moscow, Samara, Kaliningrad, Kursk, Kiev, Chernihiv, Dushanbe and many others.

Since 1994, the theater, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and the Belarusian Children's Fund, has been holding a charity event "Theater for children of Chernobyl". As part of this campaign, more than 50 performances are held annually for children living in the areas most affected by the Chernobyl accident in the Gomel region. This initiative is of great importance for the support and development of culture in the affected regions.
