The sweet route: what to see on a guided tour of the "Spartak" factory in Gomel

Gomel confectionery factory "Spartak", one of the flagships of the food industry in Belarus, has been open to tourists for several years. Since 2018, an industrial tourism program has been developed here, and every year the number of people who want to look behind the scenes of sweet production is only growing. In 2024 alone, the company conducted 580 excursions, which were visited by more than 12.8 thousand people.

From history to the present.

The journey into the world of sweets and chocolate begins with an introduction to the almost century-old history of the factory, founded on June 4, 1924. Guided tours are conducted by experienced staff who not only talk about the establishment of production, but also initiate guests into technological details. However, the main action takes place in the workshops.

The route is designed to show guests almost all new production lines. Visitors can see exactly how their favorite treats are created: from kneading dough to packaging finished products.

The program includes visits to key production stages.:

· Production of muesli bars;

· Waffle lines (where they make, for example, the famous "Black Sea" ones);

· Candy and chocolate workshop;

· Production of chocolate with various fillings;

· Caramel and sponge cake workshops.

A lively response and a sweet ending.

These excursions are especially popular with children, for whom watching the process of turning cocoa beans into a bar of chocolate becomes a real miracle. However, adult students who come to "Spartak" not only for entertainment, but also as part of educational programs, note the scale of production and its high automation.

The highlight of any visit is, of course, the tasting. Guests are invited to try the freshest products to consolidate their impressions. According to the "Belgospishcheprom" concern, the main purpose of the tour is to show the consumer that the factory produces high-quality and natural products.

Industrial tourism at "Spartak" also fulfills an important career guidance mission, introducing young people to the intricacies of the pastry chef's profession. But for most visitors, it's just a fascinating opportunity to spend time with family or friends and learn something new about familiar things, immersed in the aromas of vanilla and chocolate.
