Golovachi. Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

There is a stone church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in the village of Golovachi, Grodno region. The old wooden temple in the neighboring town to which the Golovachi were assigned was destroyed. They decided to build a new shrine in Golovachi.

In the autumn of 1876, a Prussak engineer was commissioned to find a good place to build a stone church. In the spring of 1877, the Grodno provincial architect Ivan Kalyankevich presented a project and a financial document for the construction of a church for 500 parishioners in the church building office.

The government has allocated about 15,000 rubles from the state treasury. And the parishioners had to provide transportation of building materials. The church was built in September 1881. After the Great Patriotic War, the church was closed in Soviet times. The building was returned to the Orthodox faithful at the end of the existence of the Soviet Union in 1988. Repairs were carried out.

The monument was erected in the pseudo-Russian style. The building consists of four main architectural parts: a vestibule, a refectory, a prayer hall and an apse. A two-tiered eight-on-four bell tower is built over the vestibule. The main volume is covered by a four-pitched roof, above which an onion dome rises on an octagonal drum.
