The Borok Tract Memorial Complex is a tribute to the victims of the Berezvechye stalag.

In September 1941, on the northern outskirts of Glubokoe, in Berezvechye, the German occupiers created Stalag No. 361, a death camp that became a place of inhuman suffering for thousands of people. About 25,000 people were held in the open air on an area of only three hectares, surrounded by barbed wire. Exhausted by hunger, disease, and severe beatings, many died in the camp, but most were condemned to be shot in the Borok tract.

In 1964, the first monuments were erected at the site of the mass graves – an obelisk and a sculpture of a grieving warrior. In 1994, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus, the Borok memorial complex was opened, which became a symbol of grief and memory of the victims of fascism.

Today, the memorial is a soulful composition of two main monuments.:

  1. The crucifixion is an appeal to the descendants, calling them to remember those who loved life, Homeland and their loved ones. The words in the Belarusian language are carved on the side slabs: "Kind people, remember! They loved life, their homeland, and you! May God's grace always be with you!"
  2. A pedestal with a stone block and the body of a tortured prisoner, entangled in barbed wire, as a symbol of inhuman suffering and martyrdom.

A special impression is made by the 27 boulders located on the territory of the complex with the number "1000" carved on each one. They symbolize every thousand ruined lives. There is another boulder near the road on the edge of the forest with the inscription: "May the world not forget about the blood shed, Because people's memory is beyond the control of years!".

The memorial's composition is complemented by slabs on which 511 famous names of prisoners of the Berezvechsky stalag are carved, which allows preserving the memory of specific people who became victims of inhuman ideology.

A visit to the Borok Tract memorial complex is not just a tribute to the memory of the dead, but also a reminder of the importance of peace and the inadmissibility of repeating the tragedies of the past. It is a place where everyone can reflect on the value of human life and the fragility of the world.
