Description
The Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in 1863 in the village of Gavrilenka, is a unique example of wooden architecture, which has no analogues in Belarus. Once it was a majestic six-headed temple, which is now, unfortunately, in a state of destruction. If you visit this place, after spending at least half an hour around the shrine, you will be able to see this masterpiece disappearing into oblivion.

The church in honor of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos was built in 1863.
The church in honor of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built at the expense of the local landowner Tropov, about whose life, unfortunately, no information has been preserved. It was consecrated in honor of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos. In 1899, the rector of the church was John Matysko, who successfully developed the church, and at that time the number of parishioners reached almost 3,000 people — a significant number for a small village at that time.
The temple served believers for almost 70 years, until the Bolsheviks closed it in the 1930s, turning it into a granary. The fate of the church utensils remains unknown, but the iconostasis, fortunately, was not touched.
In the late 80s, Priest Vasily Belous, who realized that such a legacy could be lost, made every effort to preserve it. According to stories, the iconostasis could have been destroyed under the weight of grain stored in the temple, so the priest obtained permission to dismantle it and transported it to Klimovichi, where it is still available for viewing in the church of St. Michael the Archangel, built in the middle of the 19th century.
Vasily Belous himself was for a long time the rector of the Holy Cross wooden church in Osipovichi, built in 1826.
Unfortunately, the main dome of the temple collapsed at the turn of the century, and since then the destruction has continued at a high rate.
