Description
The church of St. Elijah was built in the town of Dukora in the Pukhovichi district. The stone temple was built during the Russian Empire in the early 19th century and belonged to the Uniates. Then a Catholic church worked in the building. After the suppression of the uprising in 1864, the church was transferred to the Orthodox Church.
In Soviet times, the church was closed, and a club worked in the temple, and then there were residential apartments. A few years ago, the building was handed over to believers and repairs were carried out. Since 2007, services have been held in the church.
The monument was built in the style of late classicism.

Dukora. St. Elijah's Church.
In the center of the town of Dukora, Pukhovichi district, there is a stone Orthodox church, which was consecrated in honor of St. Elijah. The first church in Dukor has been known from written sources since the 16th century, since the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. In 1765, there were two churches in Dukor: Ilyinskaya, and Peter and Paul.
The new stone temple was built during the Russian Empire in the early 19th century. At first, the building belonged to the Uniates, and since 1831, a Catholic church has been operating here.
Lev Oshtarp was buried in the church in 1851. Lev Frantsevich Oshtarp (1786-1851) was a military and statesman. He was born in Dukor. Marshal of the gentry of the Minsk province.
After the suppression of the anti-Russian uprising in 1864 under the leadership of K. Kalinovsky, the temple was handed over to Orthodox believers, and the church began to work here.
In 1891, a parish school began operating at the church. In 1922, the church was destroyed by fire, and by Easter 1929, the church was renovated. In 1930, the church was closed and the building was first used by a club, and then there were residential apartments.
In 2004, the building was handed over to Orthodox believers and renovation began. Since 2007, services have been held in the church.
The monument was erected in the style of late classicism. It has a rectangular shape in the plan. It used to be covered with a shingle roof.
