Dovbeni. Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord.

Near the town of Volozhin, as you drive along the highway from Minsk to Grodno, there is a village Dovbeni with a stone Orthodox church on the outskirts of the town. Dovbians have been known from written sources as part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania since the 17th century. In 1614, the church was mentioned in documents. In 1771, at the foundation of the landowner, a new wooden church was erected. Most possibly that this Church belonged to the Uniates. Since 1866, a two–grade parochial school has been opened.

In 1896, a new stone building of the Orthodox Church was built. At that time, during the years of the Russian Empire, Dovbeni belonged to the Vilna province of the Oshmyansky district of the Volozhin volost. After the Peace of Riga, from 1921 to 1939, under the rule of the Polish state. After the Great Patriotic War, the church was closed and the building was adapted as a warehouse for a local collective farm. After the collapse of the USSR, the temple was returned to the faithful and restoration began. In 1993, the church was consecrated.

The temple was built according to a standard project in pseudo –Russian style. It is built of rubble stone. It consists of 4 main parts: a vestibule, a refectory, a prayer hall and a semicircular apse. Above the narthex there is a three-tiered bell tower with an octagon over a quadrangle. The refectory is covered with a gable roof, and the prayer hall is four-pitched.
