Dokudovo. Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God.
The first mention of the town of Dokudovo in the Lida district dates back to the 14th century. At first it belonged to the Grand Duke of Lithuania, and since the 15th century by magnates Kuchuk. In the 16th century, the place passed to Peter Alekhnovich, the cook of the Grand Duke of Lithuania. Then to Hetman Stanislav Kishka. The new owner is the Kiev voivode Yuri Radziwill, who built the church. In 1774, Joseph Sologub built the Uniate church.
In 1839, the Uniate church was abolished at the Polotsk Sobor. The Uniate priest John Stepura in Dokudovo and 900 parishioners were at first against converting to the Orthodox faith, but they did. The church was made of wood and had a bell tower attached to it. Gradually, the building fell into disrepair and the question arose about the construction of a new building.
The new stone church was built in 1866 from brick and rubble stone. Nearby, there was an old wooden, former Uniate church. The new church was built according to a standard project in the retrospective-Russian style. The composition is elongated-axial with 4 main parts: the narthex, the refectory, the prayer hall and the apse. There is a bell tower above the narthex. The prayer hall is square in plan, covered with a four-pitched roof, on top of which is an octagonal drum with an onion. A semicircular apse is attached to the main volume.
The Dokudovo Church was the center of the parish in several villages, where several parish schools were opened.
During the First World War, the valuable property of the church was evacuated to Moscow. During the Polish period, the church resumed its activities. In recent years, the church underwent restoration.
