Derevnaya. Holy Trinity Church.
In the village of Derevnaya, Slonim district, there is a wooden church of the Holy Trinity. According to historical sources, the church in Derevnaya was first mentioned in documents during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in 1745.
The ancient temple was wooden, with three domes and had the shape of a cross in plan. The temple remained in this condition until 1836. The building was already very old and the church had to be dismantled and a new shrine built. At the expense of the local owner of the estate, Count Timen, the new church was erected in the same year. The temple was built on old foundations and suitable materials from the old temple were used in the construction of the shrine.
The church was built small, as it was assumed that a new stone Orthodox church would be created soon. A new stone church was laid and the walls of the temple began to be built. But the sudden death of the count stopped the construction. The estate passed into the hands of other owners and the church was not completed. The wooden church was renovated in 1878 at the expense of parishioners. A bell tower and a wooden vestibule were added to the temple.
After the Peace of Riga in 1921, the town became part of the Polish state. In 1926, the roof of the church was repaired and covered with zinc sheet. After the war, the church was closed. And in 1989, the building was handed over to believers again.
