Derechin. The Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior.
The town of Derechin has been known since the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania as one of the residences of the Sapieha magnates. The Sapieha Palace has not survived to our time, but there are old buildings of a mill, a church and an Orthodox church.
The first Orthodox church in the town has existed since the 17th century.
The stone Church of the Transfiguration was built in 1865 according to a standard project with state funds. Similar churches were built in Belarus in Khotimsk, Brest and Novaya Mysh.
The temple was built in a pseudo–Russian style. The interior is painted on a biblical story. During the Soviet years, the church did not close and worked. In recent years, the building has been restored and listed as an architectural monument.
The main volume of the temple has the shape of a square to which a rectangular porch and apse are attached. The church is covered with a four-pitched roof with a dome. The dome is located on a wooden light drum. There are 4 towers at the corners, completed with spires with bulbs. In the interior, four pillars hold the dome structure. There are choirs at the entrance.
The church building is surrounded by a stone fence around the perimeter
