The "Stone Girl" is a famous tourist attraction in the Lelchitsky district.
It will not be difficult to find this unique artifact. It is located on the outskirts of the village, next to the historical road. Following the sign to the Tsar oak tree, turn off the main highway to the right. Your landmark will be a picturesque green house. It is behind the sky-blue fence that the "stone girl" stands.
The stone girl from Danilevichi is a stone cross protruding 70 cm from the ground. Its rounded shapes and smooth transitions give it anthropomorphic features. The upper part of the cross looks like a head, and the side projections look like a body.
Legends say that once the stone girl was an ordinary girl, cursed by her mother for disobedience. A resident of the village of Danilevichi told: "It was a long time ago, when everything was done manually. The women worked in the fields with their children, taking cradles with them. One woman had a daughter about twelve years old. The mother was reaping sheaves, and asked her daughter to take them to the pile, because a cloud was coming. The girl did not obey either the first or the second time. Then the mother said angrily: "May you become a stone!" And the girl turned into stone."
The worship of the stone girl takes place on Easter. The women bring her offerings: eggs, bread, pies, money, and wildflowers. The stone cross is decorated and "dressed" in fabrics. Old fabrics are burned. To make the cross look more human-like, the inhabitants of the village of Borovoe create a semblance of hair from moss and grass. Near the stone, women pray and congratulate each other on the Resurrection of Christ. Local residents treat the "girl" as if she were alive and sympathize with her fate. During Easter, the cross is embraced and asked for help in illnesses and misfortunes.
The stone girl plays an important role in the lives of local women. They believe that she can influence events, change them for better or for worse.
