The Church of St. John the Baptist in the agricultural town of Chernevichi is an architectural monument in the neoclassical style.
The history of the Church of St. John the Baptist in Chernevichi is shrouded in mystery, as the exact date of its construction remains unknown. Local legends date the construction of the temple to the 1920s. This is the period when the Chernevichi were part of Poland.
It is known that the fate of the temple underwent significant changes during the Soviet period, when it was converted into a warehouse.
Only in the early 1990s, with the advent of a new era, the church was returned to the Catholic community. Subsequently, reconstruction was carried out, affecting, in particular, the temple tower, which acquired a modern look.
Despite the paucity of documentary evidence, the architectural features of the church suggest that it belongs to the neoclassical style. This makes it an interesting object for studying the history of the region's architecture.
Today, the Church of St. John the Baptist is once again a place of prayer and spiritual unity for the faithful of Chernevichi.
