Bulkovo Holy Assumption Church.
The first mention of the temple in the village of Bulkovo dates back to September 20, 1617, and it is associated with the pardon of Count Andrei Masalsky.
At the end of the 19th century, a new brick church was built on the site of the old church, consecrated in 1896.
Originally Uniate, it became Orthodox in 1839. Father Platon Kaskevich made a significant contribution to the construction of the new church in the 1870s and 1890s.
The architectural style of the church belongs to the synodal trend of the retrospective Russian style. The building consists of three parts: a bell-tower vestibule, a rectangular prayer hall and a pentagonal apse. Above the bell tower stands a tent with a crown, and above the central part is a dome with an onion dome. The facade is decorated with decorative elements: jagged and arched friezes, pediments, corner columns, arched window openings and a perspective portal.
During the First World War, church property was evacuated to Russia and lost.
In the 1920s, Priest Zachary Petruchuk carried out a large-scale renovation of the church.
In 1944, during the Great Patriotic War, the church was seriously damaged due to the explosion of the bell tower by German troops.
In the 1950s, local authorities tried to dismantle the remains of the temple for the construction of a school.
In 1960, the parish was disbanded due to the lack of suitable premises for worship.
In the 1980s, Alexey Mirochnik, a native of Bulkovo, initiated the process of restoring the temple.
In the 1990s, thanks to the efforts of the community and the support of the authorities, the temple was restored.
In 1994, the church was rededicated by Archbishop Konstantin of Brest and Kobrin, and a year later, work on its restoration was completed.
A Sunday school has been operating at the church since 2014.
By visiting this temple, you will be able to personally enjoy its architectural splendor, as well as get acquainted with the history of Orthodoxy in the region.
