Description

In 1971, a memorial complex dedicated to the memory of those who suffered at the hands of the Nazis was created in the village of Britsalovichi. This complex includes an architectural and sculptural group: a statue of a grieving mother holding a child, and next to it a figure of a murdered man. The tragedy that occurred in Britsalovichi reflects the fate of many Belarusian villages destroyed during the war.
Today, anyone can visit this place to commemorate the victims of fascism by laying flowers at the memorial. The complex serves as a reminder of the terrible events of the past and a symbol of mourning for the dead.

The memorial complex "Britsalovichi" is a symbol of mourning for the dead.

In memory of the tragic events in the village of Britsalovichi, where on January 13, 1943, the Nazis shot 676 local residents, as well as 44 soldiers and partisans who died in the battles of 1943-1944, a memorial complex was created in 1971.

Located on the outskirts of the village, the memorial commemorates the period of occupation that lasted from the end of June 1941 to June 30, 1944. Local residents actively supported the K.K. Rokossovsky partisan detachment No. 211, based in the surrounding forests.

In January 1943, the Nazis carried out a punitive operation, destroying a significant part of the population. They fraudulently rounded up the residents, shooting them and burning them alive. Only a few managed to escape.

Initially, the memorial included a concrete stele with an epitaph, five slabs with the names of the dead, and a sculpture of a boy. The authors of the project were N.Andreev, A.Krokhmal, A.Solyatitsky, led by A.O.Bembel. Subsequently, the sculpture was replaced by the composition "Grieving mother with child."

The central element of the memorial complex is a sculptural group depicting a kneeling woman with a baby and a lying murdered man. Behind this composition, on a raised platform, there are six concrete slabs with the names of the fallen engraved and a central stele made of concrete.

The stele is decorated with a through-the-ear pattern, a commemorative inscription, the date "1943" and a colored mosaic representing the villagers. Memorial plaques with names are stylized like a traditional towel.

A cube-shaped monument with an inscription on the front stands on the mass grave.

The complex serves as a reminder of the terrible events of the past and a symbol of mourning for the dead.
