Braslav Museum of Local Lore.

The Braslav Museum of Local Lore was founded in 1984 and opened its doors to the first visitors in April 1988. The initial exhibition included more than 700 exhibits highlighting key moments in the history of the city and the region. Before the opening, the funds numbered more than 4 thousand storage units, and currently exceed 24 thousand.

The collection began with materials from the Braslav Secondary School Museum of Local Lore, created by teacher and local historian A.Y. Gorelik. Initially, the museum had one exhibition. Now there are six permanent exhibitions, as well as temporary exhibitions.

The Department of Archaeology presents exhibits from antiquity to the late Middle Ages, with an emphasis on castle fortifications. Two halls are dedicated to outstanding residents of Braslav, such as the doctor S. Narbut and the artist P. Sergievich.

The history of Braslav is divided into two expositions: the XIX-XX centuries before the Great Patriotic War and the period of repression and post-war reconstruction.

The military history department presents artifacts of the war, including the Maxim machine gun. The sixth hall is dedicated to crafts, music and ethnography of Braslav.

In 2003, the NIC BROM team was awarded the special prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus.

As part of the cultural and mass work, museum and pedagogical classes are held in five thematic blocks: introductory, ethnographic, historical, a block on folk festivals and ancestral achievements, as well as lectures on the main historical events of the Braslav region and prominent personalities.

The museum's research activities include the collection, study and processing of exhibits, the creation of information materials and catalogs.

Since it is impossible to imagine all the sights in the museum, field trips are popular, for example, "Castle Hill – the heart of Braslav region" and a tour of the surroundings of Slobodka.

The local history almanac "Pavet" is being published, new excursion programs and lectures are constantly being developed.
