Description

On the territory of the Khoiniki district in the village of Borisovshchyna there are surviving fragments of the Yastrzhembsky estate built in the second half of the 19th century.
Today it is a historical heritage, an interesting architectural complex, which, unfortunately, has not been preserved. The beautiful ruins are what remains of the former beauty and grandeur. It's a very interesting location.

Historical heritage in Borisovshchyna : an interesting architectural complex, which, unfortunately, has not been preserved.

The village of Borisovshchyna was first mentioned in 1622 as the possession of Pan Khrapovitsky. After changing many owners, in 1804 the Borisov estate was acquired by the Yastrzhembsky family, whose property it remained until the revolutionary events of the early 20th century. In the 1920s, the Borisovshchyna state farm was established in these places.

The manor and park complex was built by the Yastrzhembskys in the north of the estate, on the banks of the Vita River, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries for a representative of an ancient Polish family, Felix Yastrzhembsky.

Of all the surviving buildings, the most impressive is a five-story brick water tower, made in the Neo-Gothic style with battlements, which gives it a resemblance to medieval defensive structures. The remains of the Borisovshchyna estate include a manor house and a landscape park, laid out in the 1890s and located on two terraces along the Goryanka River.

It is known that earlier a wide alley lined with lime trees led to the manor house. The one-storey manor house was surrounded by exotic trees and shrubs, creating an atmosphere of comfort. Nearby there were outbuildings: a glacier, a mill, a distillery and a housekeeper's wing. There is information that a distillery, a steam mill and an oil mill worked in the estate.

A wide staircase descended from the main house to the lower terrace, where a pond was dug and water channels laid, which served both to decorate the park and to drain the marshy areas. Beautiful bridges were thrown between the canals, and convenient paths were laid along the shores. Several hundred species of plants not typical for local latitudes grew here.

Unfortunately, the estate and the park were severely damaged during the Great Patriotic War. The master's house did not survive at all. The remaining buildings are partially roofless, but for the most part they look quite sturdy.

Today, the fragments of the Yastrzhembsky estate are a historical heritage, an interesting architectural complex, which, unfortunately, has not been preserved. Beautiful ruins are what remains of the former beauty and grandeur, a very interesting location. Several buildings are scattered throughout the territory, some of them are accessible. Definitely worth a visit!
