Bolshye Eismonty. The Church of the Virgin Mary and John Nepomuk.
In the town of Bolshye Eismonty, the first Catholic church was built in the 17th century by the family of Anna Eismont. There were 6 altars in the wooden church. The miraculous icon of the Mother of God of Eismont was kept in the main three-tiered altar. The area around the church was surrounded by a stone fence with gates and sculptures of St. John Nepomuk and the Mother of God with Jesus. At the beginning of the 18th century, the church was destroyed by fire, but quickly rebuilt.
The new stone church was built in 1850 in the classical style and neo-Gothic elements. Grodno engineer Anton Yanovsky supervised the construction of the building. The dimensions of the church were 50 yards in length and 20 in width. In honor of the consecration of the church on April 14, 1851, a memorial stone was laid in the apse of the temple.
After the anti-Russian uprising of 1863-1864, the church was closed. Catholics in the early 20th century made attempts to build a new church, but parishioners in 1912 collected donations and renovated the old building.
The church was constantly working and was not closed in Soviet times.
The building is an architectural monument, built with elements of neo-Gothic and classicism. The main facade of the church is decorated in the form of a four-column portico, which completes the triangular pediment. The interior of the temple is three-nave, which is divided by 4 pairs of columns. The church has 3 altars.
Near the church there is a bell tower and an old wooden plebania. The area near the temple is decorated with ornamental shrubs.
