Bolshaya Medvyadka. Church of the Ascension of the Lord.
A wooden Orthodox Church of the Ascension of the Lord has been built in the village of Bolshaya Medvyadka in the Korelichi district. The temple was built in the traditions of folk wooden architecture at the local cemetery. The monument was built in the 1770s-1780s at the expense of Frantishek Yablonsky.
Excerpt from a 1784 document: "Chapel of the Ascension of the Lord and the protection of the Most Serene Virgin Mary in the village of Medvyadka in the collection of Noble Frantishek Yablonsky, judge of Novogrudok. Well-built, cobblestone, shingled roof, with two large iron domes and crosses. The vestibule has 2 doors: on metal hinges with an internal lock, the second with a wooden bolt. The floor and ceiling are made of sticks, and there are six wooden windows. The choirs and the railing in front of the altar are decorated with chiseled balusters. Two sacristy rooms on iron hinges are adjacent to the church..."
The brotherhood worked at the temple. In 1802, Ignatius Domeyko (1802-1889) was baptized in the church. The upland church forms a rectangular building, which is covered with a gable roof. A four-pointed bell tower is built over the main facade. There are choirs in the interior.
Repairs were carried out in 2024. Ignatius Domeyko's ancestral estate is located nearby.
