Bolshaya Berestovitsa. The Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord.
In the small town of Bolshaya Berestovitsa, which has only five thousand inhabitants, there are several ancient pre-revolutionary temples. The first Catholic church was mentioned in the town in the 16th century. The church was made of wood and died in a fire. Then, at the beginning of the 17th century, the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built with the money of the Khodkevich magnates, which exists to this day. And in the 19th century, this church was handed over to Orthodox believers, and at the beginning of the 20th century there was a need to build a new church in the village.
The Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord was built in 1909-1912 in the Neo-Gothic style. The temple was built according to the project of engineer I. Plotnikov, who was a Grodno provincial engineer. The temple was closed in Soviet times after the war. And after the collapse of the USSR in the early 1990s, it was restored and handed over to Catholic believers.
The church is made of stone. It is built of bricks and stones. The plan of the building is a rectangular three-nave basilica. The church has a pentagonal apse. The main facade is decorated with a multi-tiered bell tower. Buttresses have been erected around the perimeter of the church.
