Description
The V.I. Dunin-Marcinkevich Theater, which is the main cultural institution in Bobruisk, began its history immediately after the liberation of the city from the yoke of the fascist army in 1944. Soon after, he was transferred to Grodno, but after a while he reopened his doors in Bobruisk under the leadership of Arkady Arkadiev.
Throughout its long history, the theater has experienced many ups and downs, changing names and transformations. At first it was known as the Musical Drama Theater, then it was named the Regional Musical Comedy Theater, and later it was renamed the State Theater. However, since the 70s of the last century, it has acquired its current name - the Mogilev Regional Drama and Comedy Theater, and proudly bears the name of the founder of the national drama, an outstanding native of Bobruisk – V.I. Dunin-Marcinkevich.

Bobruisk. Drama and Comedy Theater
Back in the 19th century, various theater troupes came to work in Bobruisk with great pleasure. The famous troupe of the outstanding theatrical figure Vladimir Kumelsky has toured here several times. In 1932, this troupe was transformed into the State Russian Theater of the BSSR with a base in Bobruisk. The theater's performances took place in the premises of the fire station club, and in 1932 a new theater building with a mechanized stage opened in the city center.
In 1935, the theater was transferred from Bobruisk to Mogilev, but already in 1938 a collective farm and state farm theater was created to serve the rural audience. After the war, in 1944, this theater resumed its activities, and the Bobruisk Regional Drama Theater was soon established on its basis. The artistic director of the theater was director Kazimir Stetsky, who was later replaced by Nikolai Kovyazin. However, in 1947 the theater was transferred again, this time to Grodno, and in Bobruisk, in a building restored in 1949, touring theaters worked.
Only in 1956, Resolution No. 316 of the Council of Ministers of the BSSR revived the Bobruisk mobile Belarusian Drama Theater. It was headed by Arkady Arkadiev. Since its opening in 1957 with a performance based on the play by Y. Kupala "The Ruined Nest", the theater in Bobruisk has not stopped its activities, although it has changed names and reorganized. In 1962, it became the Bobruisk Musical Drama Theater, in 1965 - the Mogilev Regional Musical Comedy Theater, on the basis of which the State Musical Comedy Theater was organized in 1970.
In 1977, the theater moved to a newly built building and opened the theater season with the play "Pinsk Gentry" by Vincent Dunin-Marcinkevich, whose name it has proudly borne since the end of 1977. The repertoire of the theater is large and diverse, including today about 30 productions for adults and 20 for children. The repertoire includes classical works, comedies, dramas, musicals, fairy tales, phantasmagoria and other genres.
