Description

At the end of the 19th century, the Church of St. Nicholas was moved from the city center, where it had been located since 1600, and installed in Berezinsky Forstadt. For some time, the Holy Spirit Church was assigned to St. Nicholas Cathedral, but is currently an independent parish of the Bobruisk diocese. The temple was built in 1901 on Berezinsky Forstadt, on the site of the former wooden building of St. Nicholas Cathedral, which was located there until 1835.

The building of the Holy Spirit Church in Bobruisk is a one-story building consisting of rectangular and square parts, each of which is topped by a tower with a dome. The interior of the church is modest. Services and baptismal ordinances are regularly held in the church.

Bobruisk. Holy Spirit Church

The Holy Spirit Church is one of the religious attractions of Bobruisk. Its history is closely connected with the Church of St. Nicholas, built in 1600. Initially, the temple was located in the city center, but at the end of the 19th century it was decided to move it to a military fortification in the Berezina area. After some changes, in 1901 the church was consecrated in honor of the Holy Spirit.

Religious activity in the church continued until 1937, despite the hostile attitude of the Soviet government towards the church. Divine services resumed only at the end of the Great Patriotic War. Two years after the final liberation of the USSR from the Nazi invaders, the Holy Spirit Church was closed again. The local authorities gave the temple premises to the club. The secular entertainment facility within the walls of the temple existed until 1956, after which the building was transferred to the Luch cinema for almost forty years.

In 1993, the church building resumed its direct functions, as evidenced by the inscription on the memorial plaque on the main facade of the church. The name of Alexander Vasilyevich Borovsky, who provided generous financial assistance in the restoration of the shrine, is also immortalized on the board.

In 1999, a chapel and a Sunday school were added to the building of the Holy Spirit Church. The complex of buildings and the surrounding area are constantly being improved and periodically supplemented with new elements. In 2003, new domes were made for the church and the building was decorated with "golden" crosses. A year later, a project was completed to renovate the roof of the church, and the territory of the complex was paved with paving slabs.
