Description
The Bobruisk Museum of Local Lore, which is one of the oldest museums in Belarus, is located in the very center of the city, on Victory Square. This museum was founded back in 1924, and since 1996 its exhibitions have been housed in an elegant two-storey building designed in the Art Nouveau style.
The museum is famous for its rich history and diverse collections. Here you can see unique artifacts, documents and exhibits that tell about the life and everyday life of the inhabitants of Bobruisk and its surroundings for many centuries.
Since 2010, the Bobruisk Museum of Local Lore has been actively participating in the international action "Night of Museums".

Bobruisk. Bobruisk Museum of Local Lore
The first director of the Bobruisk Museum of Local Lore was an amateur local historian, a native of the Gluka region of the Bobruisk district, Slavin Tsodik Yakovlevich. By decision of the city administration in 1924, a small wooden building was allocated for the museum, which was located in the courtyard of the children's library. Slavin was assigned to lead the work on the creation of the museum and collect all the necessary exhibits. In 1927, the city hosted a large exhibition of Bobruisk's economic achievements during the years of Soviet rule, and most of the exhibits from this exhibition were transferred to the museum.
The exposition of the Bobruisk Museum of Local Lore tells in detail about the history of the region, from antiquity to the present day. The museum has several main sections of the exposition: the history of the Bobruisk region, ethnography, culture, modernity and nature. On the ground floor of the museum there are archaeological finds, documents on the history of the Bobruisk fortress, household items of the citizens of the XIX - early XX century and other unique exhibits.
The halls on the second floor of the museum are dedicated to the newest period of history, where a significant place is devoted to the events of the Great Patriotic War. Visitors can get acquainted with ancient crafts and rural household items common in the Bobruisk district in the Ethnography of the Region hall. The Bobruisk and Bobruisk Residents Hall tells about the development of the city in the post-war period and about the famous people of our city. The Hall of Culture presents the works of writers, artists, artists and composers, as well as information about modern cultural institutions in Bobruisk.
Among the unique exhibits of the museum, you can find the only helmet in Belarus of the late X – early XI century. In addition, the Romanesque sword and other items of military equipment are on display. One of the significant exhibits is a 1903 sign made in honor of the laying of the fire station in Bobruisk.
