Bartniki. Chapel and manor of the Slizen family.

In the Baranovichi district, not far from the village of Volno, there is a small village of Bartniki, where a wooden manor house and a chapel of the Slizen family have been preserved to this day.

The chapel was built on a hill in the local cemetery in the Neo-Gothic style in 1839. It has a round shape in the plan. Loopholes are made in the walls around the perimeter. Unfortunately, the chapel is now in disrepair and needs to be repaired urgently, as the roof has collapsed and cracks have appeared through the walls.

The wooden house of the Slizen family estate, which was built in the 19th century, has been preserved to our time. The building is wooden and one-storied.

The famous Belarusian painter, fashion designer and sculptor Rafael Ratsha Slizen (1804-1881) was born in the estate. At first, he studied in the village of Volno with the Basilians school. Then he continued his education at the Jesuit Academy in Polotsk. He studied in Vilnius with famous artists John Rustem and Kazimir Yelsky. Then he worked in St. Petersburg and returned to the estate in Volno near Baranovichi, where he actively engaged in creative work. He created an artistic collection of sculptural portraits of his relatives and acquaintances. He made medallions of famous writers and figures: Jan Chechot, Thomas Zan, Adam Mickiewicz, Konstantin and Evstafy Tyshkevich and many others.
