Barkolabovo. The Church of the Kazan Mother of God.
In the town of Barkolabovo, between Mogilev and Bykhov, there are several historical sites that are worth a look. Once there was a wooden castle here, the Castle Hill, or, as it is called here, the settlement, remained from it; the Orthodox Ascension Monastery was restored in recent years; and in the very center of the town stands the Orthodox Church of the Kazan Mother of God.
If you drive into Barkolabovo from Mogilev, you will see from afar the high bell tower of the Church of the Kazan Mother of God, which is located on the main street of Denisov. The church was built in 1904 in the pseudo-Russian style. This is a typical project, according to which thousands of churches were built in the Russian Empire. Several such buildings remain in Belarus.
The church is built of red brick. The entrance is decorated in the form of a locker, which is supported by four pillars - "melons". The church consists of several main parts: a vestibule, a refectory, a prayer hall with side chapels and a pentagonal apse. There is a multi-tiered bell tower above the narthex. The main and side facades are decorated with brick.
The church was closed in Soviet times, and the bell tower was demolished. In recent years, the temple has been handed over to believers and restoration has been carried out. The temple is functioning.
Near the church on the left side, there is a stone two-storey building of the parish school.
