Antopol. The Church of Andrei Bobolya.
In the town of Antopol, Drogichin district, there is an unusual building in the constructivist style. This is the former church of Andrei Bobolya.
After the Peace of Riga in 1921, the town, like this region before 1939, became part of the Polish state.
The church was built in 1939 in the constructivist style. A two-level tower rises above the rectangular main volume, which was previously used as a bell tower.
There is a plaque on the building with the following inscription: "The church in Antopol was built in 1939 and consecrated in honor of the martyr Andrei Bobolya (1591 – 1657), a Catholic preacher from Pinsk who died a martyr's death at the hands of Cossacks in the town of Yanov–Polessky. The saint is revered by believers as the spiritual patron saint of Polesie. The stone church building was built by the efforts of the famous Polish writer Maria Rodzevich (1863-1944), the owner of the nearby Grushevo, now the territory of the Kobrin district. The church is an architectural monument of the constructivist era. Since 1950, the building has been used by Fire Rescue Post No. 16."
With the help of the writer M. Radevich, the relics of Andrei Bobolya were transported to the church. After the Great Patriotic War, the church was closed and the building gradually fell into disrepair. Then the building was taken away by firefighters and repaired, and a garage was added from the side.
And now there is a local fire department in the building.
