Zelva region: Mizherichi-Meshtovichi-Alexandrovshchina-Voronichi-Derechin-Lukonitsa-Synkovichi.
Description
Welcome to the amazing Zelva region! We will go on a journey through seven picturesque villages and towns to get acquainted with their history, architecture and natural beauty.
Our route starts in the village of Mizherichi. Here we will visit the local Orthodox church, which was built in 1904.
The next stop is Meshtovichi. There was a manor house here, which belonged to the Bryanets family at the end of the 19th century, and to the Skirmunts at the beginning of the 20th century. A stone one-story manor house, several outbuildings, as well as a partial park and garden have been preserved here. There is also a monument to Soviet soldiers who died during the war in Meshtovichi on the territory of the estate.
In Alexandrovshchina, we'll see Zherno Manor, an interesting architectural monument of the late 19th century in the neoclassical style, belonging to several noble families. Only a few similar buildings have been preserved throughout Europe.…
Voronichi is famous for its picturesque nature: around the village there are green meadows and dense forests. Here you can have a picnic by one of the local ponds or visit the Staraya Ves' Manor Museum. The museum in this manor is one of the 15 most unusual museums in Belarus!
Derechin has been known since the time of the Great Patriotic War as one of the residences of the Sapieha magnates. The Sapieha Palace has not survived to our time, but there are old buildings of the mill, the church and the Orthodox church, which we will definitely visit and learn more about their history.
In the village of Lukonitsa, we will visit the surviving outbuildings of the former estate, the ruins of a stone chapel at the local cemetery and the St. Michael the Archangel Church.
Our last destination is Synkovichi. Here we will see the oldest fortress temple and a unique monument of Gothic architecture of the end of the XV century, which is also famous for the miraculous Mother of God "Vsetsaritsa" icon, and the unusual sound of bells.
