Volkovysk region and its rich history.
Description
Go on a guided tour of the Volkovysk district and its surroundings!
In the town of Teolin, you will visit the Grabovsky Manor, decorated in the classical style, on the territory of which the park is located.
In the city of Lichitsy you will see the Orthodox Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, made in a retrospective Russian style. The temple is surrounded by a stone fence. Another attraction of this city is the ancient cemetery, decorated in the traditional Orthodox style, where Countess Grabovskaya was buried.
Next, we will go to the city of Volkovysk, where the P. Bagration Volkovysk Military History Museum awaits us. It occupies two buildings with a total area of about a thousand square meters and includes a rich collection of archaeological artifacts from the X–XIV centuries, uniforms of Red Army soldiers, personal belongings of Soviet and Wehrmacht soldiers.
After the museum, we will visit the Bagration House estate, where the most valuable historical exhibits are collected — from soldiers' uniforms to a large-scale weapons collection.
The next stop will be the Swedish Hill, where numerous unique artifacts have been found, such as battle axes, arrowheads and spears, spurs, stirrups and sword parts. Then we will see the Church of St. Wenceslaus, made in the style of late classicism. Inside the temple, you can see the famous images of "Saint Casimir" and "The Nativity of Christ."
The last attraction of the city will be the Church of St. Nicholas, the main entrance of which is highlighted by a keel-shaped pediment. Inside there is a wooden two-tiered iconostasis decorated with gilding.
The Tarasovich estate in the town of Gniezno, where the farm buildings of the stable and the food storage house ("lyadounya"), and the remains of the park with ponds are preserved, will complete the journey.
