Belarus is rich in architectural treasures in various states. Previously, these buildings belonged to famous personalities who played an important role in the history of the country. Unfortunately, various historical events that took place on Belarusian soil greatly influenced the formation of the architectural landscape, and many of the architectural masterpieces have been lost forever or are so damaged that restoration is impossible, and only ruins remind of their former greatness.… Despite the sad state, the ruins of former architectural monuments retain their grandeur, mystery and picturesqueness, representing great interest for connoisseurs of antiquity. In this itinerary, we have selected the TOP 10 memorable ruins, which can be a great idea for an exciting trip and ruin therapy sessions.

The stone Castle in Novogrudok is a unique monument of defensive architecture of the Middle Ages, the ancient center of Novogrudok, the residence of the Grand Dukes of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. It existed from the 13th to the 17th centuries.
Currently, only the foundations of fortifications with buildings and ruins of towers have been preserved. It was decided to preserve the ruins of Novogrudok Castle with the restoration of its compositional structure and historical buildings. Currently, work is underway to preserve the ruins of three towers of the XIV-XVI centuries, to preserve the stone strands that connect the detinets, and to preserve the walls.

Arriving in the village of Berezovets, you will be able to see the ruins of the Trinity Church, which can be used to imagine the former greatness of the temple that once existed here.
This stone temple was built in the early 20th century. Unfortunately, the church's existence was short-lived. The temple suffered severe damage during the First World War. Since then, the building has not been restored, but, on the contrary, it has been destroyed more and more. Today, the remains of the church are an interesting place for tourists to visit. It will leave you with unforgettable impressions!

Catholic monastery of the 17th century, an architectural monument of the mature Baroque. The only monastery of the Carthusian Order in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
The construction of the monastery was carried out by an unknown Italian architect, it was started in 1648 and completed in 1689. It was conceived as a fortress monastery with elements of defensive architecture: stone walls with towers, a moat around the monastery.
After the Polish uprising of 1830-1831, in which the Carthusian monks also participated, the monastery was abolished.
In the early 1990s, the monastery was included in the list of historical and architectural values of Belarus.

The Bobruisk Fortress is a fortification of the early 19th century in the city of Bobruisk. Construction began in 1810, the fortress played a significant role in the Patriotic War of 1812, its garrison numbered about 4 thousand people.
In 2002, the historical and architectural monument "Bobruisk Fortress" was included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of the Republic of Belarus and classified as values of national significance. The buildings have been partially restored, and redoubts, bridgeheads, casemates, the Opperman Tower, and other utility rooms can be viewed.

In medieval Belarus, our country was sometimes called the land of castles. And one of the best castles was the castle in Bykhov, which was first built by the Khodkevich magnates, and then by the Sapieha. In the 17th century, the castle was considered impregnable, and on its territory there was an armory and a huge stock of weapons. 
Archaeological excavations have been carried out in recent years. Two towers have been restored. The rest of the castle is in disrepair.

In the agro-town of Smolyany, or Smolyany, as they are sometimes called, the ruins of a majestic castle built by the Sangushko magnates have been preserved to our time. The castle was built in the 17th century in Renaissance style. It was surrounded by a defensive moat filled with water. And there are still 2 Orthodox churches and 1 Catholic church around the castle in the town.

The attraction of the Sittsy village, Dokshitsy district, is the mysterious fragments of the once large Domeyko family estate, which are literally "steeped" in history.
The estate was first mentioned in 1567 as the property of the Khodkevich family. In 1798 became the property of the Domeyko family. 
To this day, only the Baroque entrance gate (which once had a wooden mechanism that ensured the movement of a large cuckoo clock), the portico columns of the palace, several outbuildings of the XVIII–XIX centuries, a fence and an old park with a 500-year-old oak-"patriarch" have been preserved.

Krevo Castle was built at the beginning of the 14th century. It is the first castle in Belarus to be completely built of stone.
Today we can see the ruins: the walls of the castle, which have survived along the perimeter, and partially preserved towers. Restoration and restoration work has been going on here for a long time. The best view of the ruins is from the top of a high hill – Yurieva Gora (a former pagan temple).

In the village of Vyaloe in Nalibokskaya Forest there are ruins of Count Tyshkevich's hunting estate.
First, two wooden palaces were built here in the 19th century, which burned down at the end of the century. In the 1890s, Benedict Henry Tyshkevich built a three-story stone palace, the ruins of which have survived to our time. Tyshkevich organized a darkroom in this building, as he was a great lover of photography. He came here in his own car.

Fragments of the former Khreptovich palace and park ensemble have been preserved in the village of Shchorsy, Novogrudok district. It is a monument of palace and park architecture of the second half of the 18th century, an example of one of the largest farms in Russia. This is the disappearing heritage of Belarus...
Today there is a two-story library building; a square house where servants lived; a smokehouse; ruins of the master's yard and stables. You can also see the heavy concrete pillars at the base of the fence that once surrounded the entire estate. Dilapidated basements have been preserved on the site where the palace stood.
