Svetlogorsk and Oktyabrsky districts: Svetlogorsk-Memorial complex Ola-Molcha-Rakovichi-Slobodka-Oktyabrsky.
Description
We start our tour at the Church of the Ascension of the Holy Cross in Svetlogorsk, built in 1997 in the Neo-Gothic style with Romanesque elements.
We will also see the "Grieving Bell", which is installed in memory of city residents, died during the Second World War.
The next location is the Ola Memorial Complex, located on the site of the village of the same name, destroyed by the Nazis during World War II. 1,758 civilians died here, including 950 children. After the war, Ola was not reborn...
Then we head to the village of Molcha, the farmstead "Nikolin Island Farmstead", where a unique pearl is hidden – the country's only operating windmill of the 19th century, built in 1883.
Next, we'll visit the memorial complex in Rakovichi dedicated to operation 'Bagration'. It was from here that the Soviet troops began the large-scale liberation of Belarus. Operation 'Bagration' went down in history as the most successful operation of the 20th century, which marked the beginning of the liberation of the whole of Belarus.
In the village of Slobodka, we will see an obelisk at the burial site of the partisans of the thirty-seventh brigade named after General Parkhomenko and soldiers of the Soviet Army who died here. The monument "Belarus Partizanskaya" in Oktyabrsky district of the Gomel region is a symbol of the national guerrilla struggle, in which not only men, but also women and children participated.
We are concluding our tour at the Oktyabrsky Zoo, one of the notable attractions not only for residents of the Oktyabrsky urban settlement, but also for guests from different parts of Belarus. The main goal of the zoo is conservation activities aimed at preserving wild animals in captivity for sustainable development and the conservation of species in general. The zoo is actively working to increase its collection.
