Rechitsa region: Rechitsa - art village 'Chyrvony Kastrychnik' (Red October).
Description
In this tour you will get acquainted with the main historical and cultural values and sights of the region, starting from the city of Rechitsa:
- the museum of local lore, where you can learn more deeply and in detail about the history and culture of the Rechitsa region;
- the former post and telegraph office building, which is a striking example of the Art Nouveau architectural trend and has a rich decorative finish, where elements of classicism, neo-Baroque and other styles harmoniously combine.;
- Holy Dormition Cathedral, built in 1872 in the classical style;
- Holy Trinity Church, built of red brick in the Gothic Revival style in 1903;
- a monument dedicated to the outstanding Belarusian historian, ethnographer and folklorist Mitrofan Dovnar-Zapolsky, a native of Rechitsa, who is the founder of the Belarusian national historiography;
- the chapel of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk, which was named Jubilee, since its construction was timed to coincide with several significant historical dates.: The 1000th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus, the 50th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the feat of the internationalist soldiers and the victims of the Chernobyl disaster.
We will end our trip in the Art village "Chyrvony Kastrychnik", where there is a very diverse life: those who wish can master the professions of carpenter, bricklayer, botanist and others.
